Aromatherapy has been used for years (3500 BC) for its health benefits. One oil which is known for these benefits is a sweet woodsy oil known as Sandalwood. Sandalwood oil has healing attributes which have been proven to work on mental clarity, skin concerns, and calming the mind and body. According to Natural Living Ideas, sandalwood is used for anxiety, as a sleeping aid, to treat acne and skin concerns, and in some cases as an anti-inflammatory agent.
Some of the below are ways to help you get the best results out of using Sandalwood oil.
If you are looking to mediate or pray, then Sandalwood helps to enhance this mood. According to Dr. Axe, “The Sandalwood tree itself is considered holy and used for various religious ceremonies, and the highest quality is in the Indian variety.” For this reason, the oil allows one to sit in a meditative state and pray by providing mental clarity and a clear present mindfulness. Please remember to do a skin test (a very small drop of oil on your wrist) to see if you have an adverse reaction to the oil first. If not, then you can place one small drop on your wrists or ankles to help with the clarity and mindfulness to proceed with your mediation and/or prayers.
However, Sandalwood also includes anti-aging benefits due to the antioxidants found in the oil which is a big seller for people who are trying to maintain their youthful look. Over time, some individuals can age due to over sun exposure. The recommended use as a facial oil is 3-5 drops in your daily moisturizer to help with any of the above concerns. Some other skin benefits are It can also decrease acne and blemishes found on the face as well as it helps people with oily to dry skin.
Sandalwood has many health benefits, the two mentioned above are the most common uses. Remember, it can help with relaxation, focus, skin care product and just to add some aroma to your home through the use of a diffuser. This will add an overall calming effect in your home.
